RESOLUTIONS FOR A NEW YEAR

January 1st is the first day of the rest of your life. It is a symbolic day for renewed optimism for a better life and a better you. Let everything from the past go, clear your plate as it is time for a fresh start. If this last year was not one of your best, try to be positive, hold your head up high and make all attempts to get back on track. See failures as opportunities to improve yourself and become stronger. Things do go wrong, starting over is a standard reality for many of us. Think of this coming year as if it will be the best year of your life.

It’s time to enjoy life. We only get one chance at a good, happy life. Life is not about the accomplishments, it’s about the journey, and the relationships that we make along the way. Experiences make us happier than things, especially when they include great friends. People with a wide circle of friends usually live longer. Make the effort to be a better friend. Good friends are there for each other even when times are tough. Make sure the people you hang around with are positive and interesting people who will inspire you to live a richer life in the new year.

True happiness is a state of mind. We decide whether or not it becomes a part of our life. Gratitude is our shortcut to happiness. Start each new day with a smile. Smile freely throughout your day. People who smile make those around them feel good about themselves. When you smile, the world smiles with you.

When weather permits, take time out to walk in nature, even if only for a couple of minutes. Walking outside is great for your well-being. Fresh air will put the brain into a state of meditation. Taking time for walking outdoors makes people 50% happier than working out in a gym. Walking is a very powerful stress buster.

January is the perfect time to evaluate your life and see where improvements can be made. Work out what makes you happy as life is what you make of it. If you start looking for the good around you, instead of focusing on the bad, you will be much happier. One of the things that gets in the way of enjoying life is thinking too much about the past and then worrying too much about the future. The more you stay in the moment, the more enjoyable the moments become.
