To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~
Success does possess certain characteristics in today’s society. To be considered a success, you must have enough food and money to be comfortable, love in your life, love for yourself, and you have to have achieved great self esteem for you know that you finally made it!
To have success in your life, you must also have loyalty. Loyalties are not all created equal. Loyalty to a sports team is a shallow form of loyalty. Loyalty to a nation can be confusing. Sometimes choosing between conflicting loyalties is a difficult decision, a matter of deciding for yourself to whom or what you owe the higher allegiance. Loyalty includes trustworthiness. Loyalty to family and friends is golden, and should be respected. That loyalty from family and friends should never be taken for granted and never, ever be disrespected.
