I’ve Learned: That to ignore the facts doesn’t always change the facts. If you make a mistake, don’t look back at it and get depressed. Take the reason of the mistake into your mind and then look forward. Mistakes are lessons of wisdom. The past cannot be changed. The future is yet to come. If we don’t learn from our mistakes, we will not grow as people.
Things in life that we cannot change or control allow us to develop acceptance, patience, wisdom and flexibility. The secret of happiness is knowing that there are some things you can control and then there are some things that you cannot. Things that are within our control should not be ignored. Let these open a world of ever-increasing possibilities to you.
Accepting that there are some things we cannot change does not make us complacent. It constitutes a leap of faith — an ability to trust, as the prayer goes on to say, “that He [or the universe or time] will make all things right if I surrender to His Will.” We thus make the choice to let go and have faith in the outcome.
