Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in Eternal awareness or Pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity. ~ Swami Sivananda
Start out by allowing yourself to simply be and to look within yourself with mindfulness and peace. Meditation will allow your body to become still.
Let meditation help you become more peaceful, focused, and more appreciative to everything in your life. There are many reasons for wanting to meditate. Getting to know oneself better and to find calm and a sense of grounding are just two of them. At its core, meditation is just about relaxing and refusing to be caught up in everyday anxieties. Meditation sharpens skills like attention, memory, and emotional intelligence, but most of all, it helps one understand the mysteries of the mind.
Meditation helpful tips:
Count backwards from 100, restarting every time you lose track. Don’t attach to forgetting your place; simply start over and keep counting down. Remember, there is no right or wrong — it’s all mediating!
Develop a personal mantra such as, “I am grateful for …” As the Buddha said, “Better than a thousand hollow words, is the word that brings peace.” Silently repeat your mantra and allow your mind to clear as you focus on a single phrase. You may also try repeating these helpful phrases:
May I be happy
May I be healthy
May I ride the waves of my life
May I live in peace
No matter what I am given.
Bring your awareness back to your body when you are finished. Allow this calmness and this centeredness to remain with you when you are done.
