When we’re truly honest with ourselves, our problem is not that opportunities for success haven’t appeared. God is always expanding our possibilities. We are given plenty of opportunities, but we tend to undermine them. Our conflicted energies sabotage everything. To ask for another relationship or another job is not particularly helpful if we’re going to show up in the new situation exactly as we showed up in the last one. Until we’re healed of our internal demons, our fearful mental habits, we will turn every situation into the same painful drama as the one before. ~ Marianne Williamson ~
There is no quick and easy path to emotional healing. In order to heal emotional pain, we must be aware. We need to care enough about ourselves to spend time looking within and truly accept ourselves as we are.
If we allow ourselves to feel helpless after a failure, or blame it on our lack of ability or bad luck, it’s likely to lower our self-esteem. Blaming a failure on specific factors within our control, such as planning and execution, is likely to be less damaging, but even better is focusing on ways we can improve and be better informed or prepared so we can succeed next time, and try again, so there is a next time.
