You only lose what you cling to. ~ Siddhartha Gautama ~

When we make our happiness dependent on people, money, success, possessions or circumstances, we suffer. Clinging to attachments is usually a fear of not being in control. Not being attached brings relaxation as we no longer worry about losing what we have. Living with non-attachment means to live in a way that we don’t grasp on to things around us in an attempt to find comfort or happiness from them.

Real peace and happiness can be found beyond the reach of these attachments as it is in the mind. Non-attachment is a state of mind. It is not relying on people and things for our happiness. When you stop trying to control the world around you, you give it the freedom to fulfill you without the power to destroy you. Letting go is letting happiness in.

Yesterday has past, tomorrow may never come, so it’s time to believe in now. All you need right now is to appreciate and enjoy what you have. Welcome the idea of living well from moment to moment. Interact with lots of people. Everyone needs people, stay open to new connections. Be someone worthwhile. Make today so great that there’s no reason to dwell on yesterday.

Figure out what matters to you. Be at peace with whatever happens in your life. Focus on what you love and you will create happiness instead of worrying about it.

Clinging is not healthy for us.  If we want to live in harmony, we have to learn the art of non-attachment.   New attachments will always threaten you, so to live with the state of mind of non-attachment, to realize the importance of living in a way that you go with the natural flow of things, is the basis of realizing non-attachment.  Having peace and happiness in life is the goal we are striving for.
