It is not always easy to do the right thing. Sometimes it can be hard to know what the right thing even is. Deep within, we all have an inner voice. To be able to listen to this inner voice, we have to silence the mind. In silence, we gain perspective on what is right, and what matters.
Once we make our decision, if we are inwardly happy with our choice, that might tell us if our choice is right. One of the simplest ways to create positive feelings within and maintaining them in a steady way is to do the right thing throughout our day. Many relationships have formed in unusual ways, volunteering and helping others puts us in a position to learn about the people we meet.
By doing the right thing we tend to get the same things back. Give value to people, help them and they will often want to help you and give you value in some form in return. Not everyone will do it but most will, not always right away but somewhere down the line. Things tend to even out.
Helping someone without any underlying desire for recognition would be the right thing to do. What goes around, comes around. Put in the extra effort and you tend to get back what you put out in the Universe. Do the best you can within each given situation. Life is a series of lessons, and what you learn today, will help you do better tomorrow.
Never, never be afraid to do what’s right, especially if the well-being of a person or animal is at stake. Society’s punishments are small compared to the wounds we inflict on our soul when we look the other way. ~ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. ~
Freedom is not the choice to do whatever you want; it is the strength of character to do what is right. Making the right choices is important because it results in a better world for ourselves, our loved ones and for people we do not know. We should strive to always do what is right. All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
