The positive effects of Laughter are amazing.  Laughter is the perfect antidote for depression and loneliness and the negative health consequences they bring.  One of the most positive effects of laughter is that it helps promote intimacy, which is often what people with depression and loneliness lack.  Laughter relaxes the mood and increases the feeling of closeness.  Victor Borge was right on when he stated that “Laughter is the closest distance between two people.”  For decades, researchers have explored how humor helps patients relieve stress and heal. They discovered that laughter helps you stay healthy by boosting your mood, improving oxygen flow to the brain, lowers blood pressure, relaxes the body and so much more.
