The greatest suffering is being lonely, feeling unloved, having no one. I have come more and more to realize that it is being unwanted that is the worst disease that any human being can ever experience.
~ Mother Teresa of Calcutta (The Joy In Loving: A Guide to Daily Living) ~
When we feel unwanted, we usually feel that way because we feel that no one is giving us love. Sometimes that’s true, while other times, it’s safe to say that you may be feeling unloved because you’re not seeing the love around you. When a person listens to you, it means that they are interested in what you have to say. No matter what it is, that sort of attention is important, because when no one listens, your cries for help will never be heard. An open mind and a shoulder to cry on can make up for love that is not being felt. When we feel love, the unwanted feelings dissipate.
I’ve Learned: That two people can look at the exact same thing and see something totally different. We all believe that everybody has the same view of the world as we do, and that everybody has the same perception of it. This is really not true. We all have different perceptions and that is why it is so important to try to see things through someone else’s eyes.
We are raised with certain ideals and prejudices. Each of us is a unique person and we have different ideas and opinions about things, which cause us to see things differently. As an adult, our behavior and judgment is based on our perception, rather than reality, itself. We interpret what we see and call it our reality. It is our perception of something that makes the difference in how we think about it, and whether or not it is good or bad.
At www.secretserendipity.com, we choose Happiness as our reality.
People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that’s what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that is holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. ~ Elizabeth Gilbert ~
We spend so much time looking for our “soul mate” and get disappointed when we are unsuccessful. Only when we learn to love and accept ourselves, and realize that we are the soul mate we have been looking for, are we able to receive love and acceptance from someone else. We must first feel it from within to understand and recognize it from without.
Above all else, we have to be sure of ourselves and love ourselves, flaws as well as virtues; it doesn’t matter if we’re the most beautiful or the most intelligent, or have the most charisma. Be happy with the way you are and you’ll reflect that and carry it with you throughout the world like a flag.
I’ve Learned: That we are responsible for what we do, no matter how we feel. One of the main reasons for low self-esteem is that people don’t take responsibility for their actions. They always try to blame someone else. That someone else is the reason for all the bad things that happen to them, and this allows them to always be in victim mode.
Your life will not turn around until you wise up and take responsibility for your life and your actions. There is really no way around it. When you make this change, the difference will be remarkable. You will feel so much better about yourself, even if you only take personal responsibility for your own life for one day. Just try it out!

Always aim at complete harmony of thought and word and deed. Always aim at purifying your thoughts and everything will be well. ~ Mohandas K. Gandhi ~
Such a Beautiful Thought – If we can bring our Thoughts, Words and Deeds in harmony we can truly explore our potential, talent and capability by channelizing our energies towards realizing the purpose of life… Truly Happiness lies in the harmony of thoughts, words, action and deeds….
To create harmony in your life, wherever you are, be there. Be there fully and completely. Life involves making choices. Choose carefully what you want, and know what you don’t want and act accordingly. Our mind is powerful in ways we don’t even understand. Use the power of your mind to embrace positive thinking.
If you find your thoughts are negative or limiting, stop and replace those thoughts with positive ones. Your internal chatter is a good forecast to the direction your life is headed. Meditation is a good way to clear that negative chatter, and assist you in changing your thought process.
You are your own strength, your own power, and you could choose to live in harmony with yourself. You won’t be of much use to anyone else, if you are not at peace with yourself. Insecurities haven’t a chance against a positive mind. Accept your friends and family just the way they are. Strive for inner peace.
I’ve Learned: To be different, and to always be true to myself. I’ve learned to always keep my mind open for things I truly like. Fashion is unimportant, style is what really matters. Never wear things because somebody else is wearing it, we have to be our own role model. There will be people that are intimidated by this newfound uniqueness, but that’s ok. It is important to always handle ourselves with class, never acting rude.
Don’t try too hard. If you are uncomfortable when being around people, it means you’re not being yourself. You have to be confident in your own being before you will successfully be able to be different. Wear things that you love and look good in, not things that are necessarily in style. Self discovery is an ongoing process. Always keep an open mind and respect other people’s differences.

I’ve Learned: Mistakes are sometimes the best memories. We’re born, we die, and in between we make a lot of mistakes, and some are too much fun to only make once. You cannot always wait for the perfect time, sometimes you must dare to jump.
Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of a life contains three descriptions: could have, might have and should have. Don’t be afraid to go after what you want to do, and what you want to be. But don’t be afraid to be willing to pay the price. The times in life that seem to be the worst, usually turn out for the best.
Research suggests that it can take ten years of experimenting with a skill and making mistakes to become truly good at it. This is true for everyone from the composer Mozart to the basketball player Kobe Bryant. Go easy on yourself if at first you don’t succeed, because that’s normal. It takes a lot of effort over a long period of time to achieve greatness at something.
Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in eternal awareness or pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity. ~ Voltaire ~
We meditate because this world of ours has not been able to fulfill us. There is too much anxiety, worry and frustration in our everyday lives. We are constantly at the mercy of negative forces that are all around us. They take the forms of jealousy, fear, worry anxiety and despair.
It is only through meditation that we can get lasting peace. If we meditate soulfully in the morning and receive peace for only one minute, that one minute of peace will permeate through our whole day. We need meditation because we want abiding peace, light and delight. If this is our aspiration, then meditation is the only way.
Meditation is important for cleansing the mind. You can practice meditation whether you’re sitting, lying down, walking, or in other positions or activities. Just try to be comfortable so that you can get the most out of your meditation. You can listen to sacred music, spoken words or any music you find relaxing or inspiring during meditation. Prayer is the best known and most widely practiced example of meditation. Spoken and written prayers are found in most faith traditions. You can pray using your own words or read prayers written by others.
Guided meditation is a focused mental activity that brings us to a state of balance where we can deeply relax and helps us lead more joyful and productive lives. Guided meditation helps us bring about change in our body by using our mind to heal. It helps activate our innate power and ability to energize and release negative emotions. These meditations teach us how to process and release stored emotions and shows us how to tap into our feelings of love, healing and connection. Guided meditation helps us feel refreshed and re-energyzed.
Sweet Spirit: Your love needs to express through each willing soul who is dedicated to his or her spiritual journey. Let me be that willing soul. Move through me, work through me, love through me, live through me. And so it is. Amen.
Our spiritual journey begins with our birth, and continues throughout our life. When we sin, we are missing God’s mark; not doing what God asked us to do. God asked us to love ourself, others and God all the time. God knows that this is the only way to happiness, joy and peace. But as we go through life, we pick up bad habits that make us miserable. We lie, gossip, eat too much, drink too much, treat our mother or father disrespectfully, etc. As you draw closer to God, you will want to leave more and more of this sin behind. You will want to purify yourself so you can move closer to God, and become more like God. God becomes the example you want to follow.
I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy; for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities. ~ Psalms 31:7 ~
God knows everything about us. When we read the Word of God we know that we have a secure and certain future for God will never allow us to suffer beyond our own capabilities to handle it. There is nothing on this earth more certain than hope in God. He will never leave us nor will He ever forsake us.
He has promised us that He will never leave us nor will He ever forsake us. When we really experience that promise, when we really know that God will never leave us nor forsake us, fear disappears and worry is no more. Life is never again measured by what we have or who we know, because we know the One, the One who holds life, the One who holds the future, the One who provides.
“Significance is discovered in the heart. It is here that it is cultivated and nurtured as it imparts meaning to everything you put your hand to. It spills forth from a life rooted in the source of significance itself – divine love. This takes what may appear as mundane, simple tasks and makes them pregnant with love-rooted-significance.” ~ Michael M. Rose ~
We are not valuable because we are a member of a certain group or because we call God by a certain name. We are not valuable because we follow a guru or observe a certain diet. We are valuable because we are a spark of the divine. And the only thing gurus, priests, rabbis and elders can do for us is point us back in the direction of home, and home is, of course, within. ~ Darren John Main (Spiritual Journeys along the Yellow Brick Road) ~
With my connection to the Divine Spark, as a connection with God, I choose the path of love, peace and harmony. As I am a spark of the divine, I welcome the divine energy through me every moment of every day without hesitation. We can all live in this world, guided by the source, the divine, moving effortlessly in concert with the creative energy that not only brought us into being, but which sustains us daily.
Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. ~ Carl Jung ~
When we look inside our own heart, our vision can begin to become clear. We discover what we are, who we are, and what we truly believe. When we ignore our heart, we see through a fog of dreams and ideas that may not represent our best true self. When we are at peace and contentment with ourselves, we are at a place of an open heart and an easy connection to other people. The more we understand what is in our heart, the more we will understand others.
If we understood where self confidence comes from, we will know how lack of confidence feels and we will be able to understand shyness even more. The music that we listen to, the way we walk, the way we talk, our body language, our face features, our handwriting and everything else that is related to us, reflects hidden parts of our personality.
Once we have looked inside our heart and know what we believe, personally and without reservation, only then can we consider ourselves to be truly awake and engaged in life. That is when our vision becomes clear, and we can follow our own path, not the path our parents, friends or society would have us follow.
God’s will is that we be happy now. In asking that God’s will be done, we are instructing our minds to focus on the beauty in life, to see all the reasons to celebrate instead of mourn. Usually we figure out what we think would make us happy, and then try to make those things happen.
But happiness isn’t circumstance-dependent. There are people who have every reason in the world to be happy who aren’t. There are people with genuine problems who are. The key to happiness is the decision to be happy. ~ Marianne Williamson ~
A popular greeting card attributes this quote to Henry David Thoreau: “Happiness is like a butterfly: the more you chase it, the more it will elude you, but if you turn your attention to other things, it will come and sit softly on your shoulder.”
Life is a train of moods like a string of beads; and as we pass through them they prove to be many colored lenses, which paint the world their own hue, and each shows us only what lies in its own focus. ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson ~
Ah! this beautiful world!… Indeed, I know not what to think of it. Sometimes it is all gladness and sunshine, and Heaven itself lies not far off. And then it changes suddenly; and is dark and sorrowful, and clouds shut out the sky. In the lives of the saddest of us, there are bright days like this, when we feel as if we could take the great world in our arms and kiss it. Then come the gloomy hours, when the fire will neither burn on our hearths nor in our hearts; and all without and within is dismal, cold, and dark. Believe me, every heart has its secret sorrows, which the world knows not, and oftentimes we call a man cold, when he is only sad. ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Hyperion, A Romance, “The Evening and the Morning Star,” 1839 ~
Defeat may test you. It need not stop you. If at first you don’t succeed, try another way. For every obstacle, there is a solution. Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. The greatest mistake is giving up.
Your circumstances define the conflict, but not the final result. The harder the struggle, the greater the story. The more triumphant it is in the end when you overcome the conflict you find yourself immersed in. When other people give up, you keep going and remember that there’s more to the story than what you’re experiencing right now.
Winners take chances. Like everyone else, they fear failing. But they refuse to let fear control them. Winners don’t give up. When life gets rough, they hang in until the going gets better. Winners are flexible. They don’t blame fate for their failures, nor luck for their successes. Winners accept responsibility for their lives. They are positive thinkers, you be one, too!

Today I stumbled and once again, was lifted up by an unseen hand. What comfort and joy that knowledge brings. For I hear the whisper of angel wings.
The guardian angels God sends to all, to bear us up when we stumble and fall. Trust Him, my friend, and often you’ll hear the whisper of angel wings hovering near.
“Life is filled with either problems or possibilities. When you look at a problem, but see opportunity instead, you become a powerful source that transforms grief into greatness. Don’t be someone who goes through greater lengths to avoid change than you do to obtain what you desire. You must define and embrace the necessary changes that move you forward. Go beyond your discontent for what is, and instead focus on imagining and creating the best of what’s possible.”
“A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset. Every day you wake up, think about what a privilege it is to simply be alive and healthy. Stop focusing on the negatives and everything that could go wrong and start thinking about what could go right. Better yet, think of everything that already is right. Be thankful for nights that turned into mornings, friends who turned into family and past dreams and goals that turned into realities. Use this mindset of positivity to fuel an even brighter today and tomorrow.” ~ John Geiger ~

Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Always be as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own. Try to think only of the best, to work only for the best, and expect only the best.
Try to forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Always wear a cheerful countenance and give every person you meet a smile. Promise yourself to give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
And remember to be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the presence of trouble. Let’s all try to be the OPTIMIST!

Better to ask a question than to remain ignorant? Better to be a free bird than a captive king? Better a broken promise than none at all? Better to be a poor person than the slave of the rich? Better to be watched by a wild animal than a nosy person? Better to do something imperfectly than to do nothing perfectly?
Better to be unhappy alone than unhappy with someone? Better to die two years early than to live one year too late? Better to lose a little money than a friendship? Better to wash an old outfit than borrow a new one? Better to hear curses than to be pitied?

The universe works with a more varied palette than do the venues of power and influence acknowledged by the world. The universe is like an infinitely powerful computer, registering a spark of willingness on anyone’s part to receive the light and then impart it to others. As we pray and meditate, attuning our hearts and minds to God, we become universal channels for the power of good.
Our own luminosity is the potent yet passive element in a complete creative process – it prepares the ground for positive materialization. Luminosity is the feminine aspect of consciousness, the spiritual yin to the physical yang. ~ Marianne Williamson ~
He that saves something today will have something tomorrow. Dine with a stranger but save your love for your family. A person who misses a chance and the monkey who misses its branch, both cannot be saved. He who controls his tongue, saves his head. He who works has much, he who saves, still more. Save money and money will save you.
“Saving requires us to not get things now so that we can get bigger ones later.” — Jean Chatzky
The need for instant gratification is real and it gets a lot of people in hot water. People with spending problems unknowingly rob themselves of the opportunity to acquire better things in the future. Think about it. You can’t buy a home without a down payment, and you can’t save a down payment unless you’re willing to curb your spending and make sacrifices. So whenever you feel the urge to spend, think about your future plans and decide whether the purchase is worth delaying your goal.
Saving Tips: Save three coins and the fourth one will fall into your lap. Sometimes you have to sacrifice your hair in order to save your head. To save one man is like saving the world. Whatever you save, is also earned. What you save is later like something found.

You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you. ~ James Allen ~
Your thoughts are the power source of your mind. This is part of the creative power of the Universe. You are a manifestation of the Universal mind. Thoughts, like seeds, have a natural tendency to grow and manifest, and are your driving force to direct you to the path you will take in life.
“One of the new things people began to find out in the last century was that thoughts—just mere thoughts—are as powerful as electric batteries—as good for one as sunlight is, or as bad for one as poison. To let a sad thought or a bad one get into your mind is as dangerous as letting a scarlet fever germ get into your body. If you let it stay there after it has got in you may never get over it as long as you live… surprising things can happen to any one who, when a disagreeable or discouraged thought comes into his mind, just has the sense to remember in time and push it out by putting in an agreeable determinedly courageous one. Two things cannot be in one place. “Where you tend a rose, my lad, A thistle cannot grow.” ~ Frances Hodgson Burnett, The Secret Garden ~
I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they’re right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together. ~ Marilyn Monroe ~
We truly believe that everything happens for a reason. When experiencing grief or loss, it may be very difficult to see the blessing in it, as all that is being felt is pain. But it is through our lowest points in life that we gain the wisdom and allow for new-found strength to emerge. Without loss we wouldn’t appreciate gain. Without death, we wouldn’t appreciate life and without fear, we wouldn’t appreciate love. Never doubt that everything happens for a reason. It will just take time in certain circumstances to understand what that particular reason is.
There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. ~ Albert Einstein ~
If we live our life as if everything is a miracle, every moment becomes something to treasure and live in awe of. We then feel great appreciation and gratitude for our life, knowing that we are blessed with such miracles all around.
“You can be the most beautiful person in the world and everybody sees light and rainbows when they look at you, but if you yourself don’t know it, all of that doesn’t even matter. Every second that you spend on doubting your worth, every moment that you use to criticize yourself; is a second of your life wasted, is a moment of your life thrown away. It’s not like you have forever, so don’t waste any of your seconds, don’t throw even one of your moments away.”
“Life is a bowl of cherries. Some cherries are rotten while others are good; its your job to throw out the rotten ones and forget about them while you enjoy eating the ones that are good! There are two kinds of people: those who choose to throw out the good cherries and wallow in all the rotten ones, and those who choose to throw out all the rotten ones and savor all the good ones.” ~ C. JoyBell C. ~
If you judge people, you have no time to love them. ~ Mother Teresa ~
Instead of judging someone, we need to allow ourselves to see the whole person. Often we will find there is so much strength and attraction in a person when we are less judgmental and more loving. We can enjoy the essence of another person and the moment we are sharing together.
No one is perfect. Many times people are not as they first appear. Get to know them. Priorities are different in different people. What might be important to you might not be important to someone else. You might not know what they are dealing with in their life. Before you judge someone, think about how you would act in the same situation. We are all different and have different problems.
Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Think before you speak, pause before you act, for it is very difficult to take the words back. You cannot un-ring the bell. We want to be accepted unconditionally, so why not do the same for others.
